When Jen Morrin called me just before Christmas last year, we talked about her four child care centres and the need for a website. and fast!

It sounded quite straight forward to start with, but there were actually four mini-sites needed under the one umbrella ‘portal’. We did discuss having four separate sites, but rather than having four sites with one or two pages, and for ease of management, the one site was preferred. There were some SEO benefits with this approach as well. Deciding on a domain name was actually the trickiest part and ultimately childcarenorthcoast.com.au was purchased (along with others that are location based, service-based and based on Centre names).

The four Centres are located along the North Coast of NSW – Murwillumbah, Kyogle, Evans Head (not part of the business from 2015) and Mullaway (near Coffs Harbour). Each page needed consistency of look/design, content, and there was also some shared content about programs and services on offer. News, calendar, jobs, enrolment forms, testimonials, staff profiles were all required along with core information including opening hours, location maps, and links to Facebook pages. Ultimately these pages would be not only for prospective customers, but they would become a hub for parents of children at the Centres.

Gathering content was challenging – and much work was done between Christmas/New Year! It did still take around 5 weeks to get the site done and work continues on content and Facebook etc. Training starts in the next few days!

I’ve used WordPress, with Divi as the basis for the templates, and the site is responsive, with a standard set of plugins to handle security, spam, site monitoring, analytics/stats, the calendar and others will be added as the site develops. New email addresses and webmail were also set up, along with new Facebook covers.

Site released: 31 January 2014
